Bluehost

Most support for the underlying functions, such as WordPress, MySQL and the VPS are provide via the standard Bluehost chat. To open a Bluehost chat, go to the Bluehost website, login using the domain name and start a chat. Support will provide a link to authenticate and will ask for the primary domain. Presently, Chiaribridges pays for a VPS (Virtual Private Server) on a 3 year term. The current term expires in November, 2023. Presently the system is CentOS 7, which is due to EOL in August 2024. Since Chiaribridges term expires prior to that and expects to upgrade to the current VPS system, no upgrade will be required.

WHM WHM gives control of the OS to support the various users of cPanel and ultimately, the sites under the Chiaribridges banner. It is the primary interface to creating user accounts, backing up the system, assigning space, establishing quotas and other system administrative tasks. It presently runs on CentOS 7, but will transition to a new OS since CentOS 7 is end of life as of August 2024. Most of the functions of WHM are system administrative tasks and will not be required for most changes other than system wide changes. cPanel cPanel provides access to site level functions and affects only the site that is assigned to a particular user. Each of the below sites are assigned to a specific user and while this makes sharing data between sites slightly more complex, it provides a layer of abstraction so that a change that causes issues only affects the site that is under a particular user. SSH SSH provides command line access to the host Linux system and is not generally needed. Since it allows for root access to the command line, it requires great care when changing this. This said, it also provides ways to quickly accomplish tasks, such as removing a plugin with the WP cli, which is built in to the Bluehost VPS.

Sites Chiaribridges This site is the original site for Chiaribridges and serves as the main point of information for the Chiari community. It has up to date information on Chiari Malformation and the various co-morbidities and provides a wealth of knowledge in regards to all things Chiari. Chiaribridges Development Site This site is (mostly) a copy of the live site, Chiaribridges; it can be used for development and changes. The primary goal is to install new plugins, add customizations to the theme via new [particles], create or change functionality via Javascript or other changes that could cause outages on the production site.

FranDelJa This site is the first of non-chiaribridges sites. FranDelJa is a non-profit childcare organization who was originally hosted on a generic provider and when a new CEO was put in place, the decision was made to re-host the site.
